i believe future people will increasingly bifurcate into a caste/class who reject the experience machine and a caste/class that embraces it, specifically regarding this:

> When’s the last time someone sent you a news article and asked you to read it? Isn’t it far more likely a friend or relative would share a tiktok or instagram reel?

to the first, every day, i have more reading material than i can get through in a week and regularly use weekends to 'binge the tabs', there are very few people who do the latter in my life and the ones that do stick to cat pictures

the key insight is that i intentionally curated this cycle of reading -> cats -> more reading because it satisfies my ideal of 'meaningful leisure' and anyone can do so if they have the inclination and volition, parents similarly have the responsibility to limit their children's exposure to cocomelon and other such a/b tested mind traps

generally, people can no longer take the benefits of friction for granted

It's all about balance

Human connection ++

Use technology to your advantage +

Occasionally use it for mindless fun (you are still human) +

Find ways to take breaks and reassess/tweak everything in your life ++

Good luck anon
